Beware !!! Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1 patchset 2 (11.1.1.3.0) is patch set only

If you are considering to use 11g R1 patchset 2 (PS 2) 11.1.1.3.0 then unlike 11g R1 PS1 (11.1.1.2.0), PS2 (11.1.1.3.0) is patch set only.

This means that you can apply it only on existing complete software like 11.1.1.2.0  . For steps on how to apply 11g R1 PS2 on existing 11gR1 Fusion Middleware click here

Below is list of errors which you would hit if you try to install  FMW 11.1.1.3.0 directly

_____________
INST-07010 Validation of Oracle Home location failed. The location specified does not exist. Enter a valid existing directory
INST-07100 The Oracle Home provided does not contain Oracle WebCenter 11.1.2.0
INST-07293 Middleware home location specified does not have the required Oracle Home installed in it
____________

Things good to know about Oracle FMW 11g R1 PS2 (11.1.1.3.0)

1.Before applying 11.1.1.3.0 to SOA or WebCenter, make sure you have patched Oracle WebLogic Server to 10.3.3 (WebLogic 10.3.3 is 11gR1 PS2 for WebLogic)

2.To upgrade WebLogic to 10.3.3 use smart update (BSU), more information here

3.Some schemas [PORTAL, OID, SOAINFRA..] must be updated in database to bring schemas to 11gR1 PS2 i.e. 11.1.1.3.0. Use Patch Set Assistant (PSA) more information hereto patch schemas

4. If you are running components of the Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite (Oracle ECM)11g Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0), then do not apply Release 1 (11.1.1.3.0) to your Fusion Middleware environment. The Oracle ECM components that were released with Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0) are not supported in a Release 1 (11.1.1.3.0) Oracle Fusion Middleware environment.

@ King,
No, as per AIA certification matrix (last updated on 30th April 2010) AIA 11gR1 is certified with SOA 11g R1 patchset1 i.e. (11.1.1.2)

Atul,
1. I installed oracle 11g for windows7 64-bit (home directory is : H:\app\Rao\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1)

2. Installed WebLogic Server using wls1033_oepe111150_win32

3. I am trying to installed SOA Suite using ofm_soa_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1.

Here are my issues.
A. win64 setup in step#3 does not start when I supplied following JRE/JDK locations
C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32\jre
C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_18\jre
C:\Oracle\Middleware\jrockit_160_14_R27.6.5-32\jre
C:\Oracle\Middleware\jrockit_160_17_R28.0.0-679\jre

B. when I use win21 setup in step#3, it takes
C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32\jre; but I am getting INST-07010 error messages in Step 2 of 5; when I entered the following values :
C:\Oracle\Middleware for middleware home and H:\app\Rao\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1 for Oracle Home Directory.

Any clues ?

Thanks
Rao

@ Rao,
11.1.1.3 is patch set only which you must install on top of existing base soa software. Did you install soa 11.1.1.2 ?
